Know we appreciate it! I'm just not a organized person so I sometimes can't imagine doing all you do with the writing, family, promos, chats and I'm sure more! Sounds exhausting talking about it! LOL.

Actually I enjoy rich think historical fiction and saga books. I don't get much time to read them, like you mentioned of Dunnett's, so I usually plan a bigger book when I know I have nothing big going on for a few days.

Thanks for answering all my questions! I occasionally get complaints from my UK audience that I have Americanised stuff, and sometimes I get complaints from my US audience that I've got it wrong for them. LOL You just can't win sometimes!

When the book gets copy-edited I sometimes try and put back the British phrases that make more sense to me and my characters than the grammatically correct American one. For example, I can't write wineglass as one word, it's technically correct in the U.S. but not in my mind or in my books time period.

It also seems harder to sell romance as a genre in the UK, most bookstores don't stock it in its own section. I'm not sure how well my U.S. books do in the UK-I think overall I sell better in the U.S.

I think Australians, having been brought up a little British LOL tend to like my style as well.Kate Pearcehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16093325179155794600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-36511401117393202822008-10-29T10:30:00.000-07:002008-10-29T10:30:00.000-07:00Hi Caffey and glad you enjoyed Simply Sexual.I 'th...Hi Caffey and glad you enjoyed Simply Sexual.
I 'think' I'm going to stick with my Regency historicals, the futuristics and maybe contemporaries for a while. I love to write all of these and it does keep me busy!

And no, no charts, no nothing. I have a list of characters and pile of research notes and usually one page where I sketch out how I'm going to get to the end of the book-that's it!

Dorothy Dunnett is the best-her books take a while to read by they are well worth the effort.Kate Pearcehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16093325179155794600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-83933767343349021532008-10-29T03:13:00.000-07:002008-10-29T03:13:00.000-07:00Do you get different reactions/comments from reade...Do you get different reactions/comments from readers in the US vs UK vs Aussies etc? I'm excited about the new one SIMPLY SINFUL (love to be in the contest!). I thought maybe it was going to be a series when I read the first one (or I'd beg for more, LOL). Thrilled there will be more SIMPLY books, and too another cowboy with CHEEK!

You do the contemps of cowboys, have you thought of doing cowboys in historicals? Or any other genres you'd like to write yet? Any you'd not write (like if you write horror, I'll cry cuz I'll miss it cuz I'm a wimp, LOL). And too you said you write by the seat of your pants, do you write charts tho of details of the stories to guide you through the rest of the books?

I have a series of Dorothy Dunnett that I was recommended and now I shall pull out! I heard many good things about them!Caffeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11830854922444380155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-20653450095614242442008-10-28T19:25:00.000-07:002008-10-28T19:25:00.000-07:00Simply Sinful sounds great!Simply Sinful sounds great!Amy S.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17202603187907169256noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-79194050874510546732008-10-28T19:19:00.000-07:002008-10-28T19:19:00.000-07:00flchen-yup I'm an old pro-I give myself a mental p...flchen-yup I'm an old pro-I give myself a mental pat on the back, tell my family, who kind of grunt and just get back to work!
Although when I first see a copy of one of my new books on the shelves I still get a little giddy and maybe even squee a bit!Kate Pearcehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16093325179155794600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-24956829607809250322008-10-28T19:16:00.000-07:002008-10-28T19:16:00.000-07:00Hi sue a"I was just wondering are there any differ...Hi sue a
"I was just wondering are there any differences in the writing guidelines or restrictions set for the two different publishers, Virgin Cheek and Aphrodisia?

Strange but cool that you're writing a American western for a UK book line and a Regency for an American book line."

Good question-Virgin Cheek is actually closing its doors next year, but it was originally designed to be erotic romance as opposed to the more literary erotic style of Black Lace. It was also about contemporary America.

So a narrower guideline in many respects than for Aphrodisia which takes all sub-genres from historicals to paranormals and contemporaries-as long as they are scorching hot.
For mt, Aphrodisia has been a dream to write for because I've never been told I can't write a particular scene a particular way-when I asked my editor if it was okay if the heroine in Simply Sinful didn't appear until chapter 4-well past the first love scene-he was fine with that :)

And yes, the irony of my current publishing line up hasn't escaped me!Kate Pearcehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16093325179155794600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-65848841083103571982008-10-28T19:11:00.000-07:002008-10-28T19:11:00.000-07:00Hi Estella!"You mentioned authors who have inspire...Hi Estella!
"You mentioned authors who have inspired you, but which authors do you read now?"

I read very widely-currently I'm rereading the JR Ward books, I just finished up a Christine Feehan (Turbulent seas) and I have Deidre Knight's new Spartan one on my TBR pile and the anthology with Stephanie Laurens, Mary Balogh etc to read.
I try not to read too many Regency historicals when I'm actually writing one as I am now (Simply Wicked will be book #4 in this series) I don't want to pick up any ideas LOLKate Pearcehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16093325179155794600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35532892.post-17781044610800894642008-10-28T17:33:00.000-07:002008-10-28T17:33:00.000-07:00I enjoyed reading the interview.
