Historical Romance

London -1829

Who is the woman who wants revenge on the Cynsters and demands that her son abduct one of their young women?

Twenty-five-year-old Heather Cynster is looking for her hero, but she is looking for him at a soiree of which her family would not approve. After all, hasn’t she tried all the ton balls and soirees? But there he is, Viscount Breckenridge, Timothy Danvers, to rescue her again, much to her dismay. She leaves to return home, and as she walks toward her carriage, another carriage pulls up alongside; two men grab her, put her inside, and ride off. Breckenridge is shocked and immediately pursues her.

Heather is tied and gagged, but when she promises to not raise a fuss, the kidnappers release her from her bondage. There are two men and one large woman. They drive up the Great North Road, sure that no one is following them. In that, they are mistaken—Breckenridge is on their trail. Heather questions the men and learns that they have been hunting for one of the Cynster women, and it doesn’t matter which one they abduct. They treat her well and have obviously been paid to take her somewhere. She tries to learn as much as she can from them so that she can figure out how to escape and warn her family.

Heather is not surprised to see Breckenridge when they stop at an inn for the night. She could have escaped then and there, but decides to stay with the kidnappers or they will just hunt for one of her sisters or cousins. She hopes to discover where she is going, who the kidnappers are, and why they are taking her. She is relieved to occasionally catch a glimpse of or talk to Breckenridge knowing he will be there to help her. They travel for several days, apparently heading for Scotland.

It is somewhat implausible that Heather would not escape her captors when she first had the chance instead of going all the way to Scotland with them making an escape much more difficult. Nevertheless, VISCOUNT BRECKENRIDGE TO THE RESCUE is a fun and entertaining story as heat begins to sizzle between the hero and heroine who end up having quite a road trip. But will they ever admit they love each other? Has Heather finally found her hero, a man she has known for so long? They are both likeable characters. Good pacing, excellent dialogue, plus a romantic tale make it a captivating story. Readers can expect several very hot and burning love scenes. The secondary characters all enrich the tale, including the kidnappers and the mysterious person who paid for the abduction. The stranger is a very interesting character, and hopefully we will learn more about him in the upcoming Cynster books.

Another book in a long series of Cynster stories, VISCOUNT BRECKENRIDGE TO THE RESCUE is one you won’t want to miss. Look for book 2 of the Cynster Sisters Trilogy, IN PURSUIT OF ELIZA CYNSTER, in October 2011, and book 3, THE CAPTURE OF THE EARL OF GLENCRAE, at the end of January 2012.
