ANY MAN OF MINE – Rachel Gibson
Avon
ISBN: 978-0-06-157911-0
May 2011
Contemporary Romance

Seattle, Washington – Present Day

Not many people know that Autumn Haven and Sam LeClaire were once married and have a son together. Certainly very few know that they once spent a wild and wicked week together in Las Vegas which culminated in a whirlwind wedding that both regretted. After all, Sam, a Seattle Chinooks hockey star, is the sexy bachelor who dates reed-thin models. Their son, Conner, is the only tie that binds them together now. Sam and Autumn’s contact with each other the past few years has been sporadic, with a third party acting as a go-between for his visits with Conner. At a wedding, Sam spots Autumn, and surprisingly, his interest in her rises again. Without understanding why, he wants to know more about the mother of his son. Of course, her old resentment rears its head. Surely other than Conner, they have nothing in common?

Autumn has raised her son while trying not to show Conner how much she resents Sam. She fell for the man in Vegas and married him, only to have him dump her in a hotel the next morning. Their divorce was completed faster than their marriage ceremony. Conner is the reminder of their alliance. Autumn hates Sam for what he did and tries to not be around him, but with her company coordinating the wedding of the Chinooks team owner to Sam’s friend, he can’t be avoided. When he starts hanging around Conner more, she’s not sure if she can stand it, because it brings up the feelings she thought were dead. Autumn wants what is best for Conner, but does that include playing nice with Sam?

What could have been if they hadn’t made the mistake of marrying first before getting to really know one another is at the heart of ANY MAN OF MINE. An instant attraction when Sam and Autumn met in Vegas consumed them to the point of combustible lust, which eventually melted when reality set in. Both had unresolved issues from in their pasts which made it difficult to form any lasting relationship. Sam has guilt over his sister, as well as how he never really had a dad. While he kept his visitation rights with Conner, he never really seemed to be there for his son. Let’s face it…Sam knows very little about his own son. Now he’s trying to get to know Conner, and this also means coming into contact with Autumn.

Sam’s walking out on her reminded Autumn of her father’s abandonment and left her not trusting men too well. She’s made a good career as an event planner and used Sam’s child support payments to buy a home. For Conner’s sake, she tries to not let her anger over Sam get to her, or the fact that he seems to go from one woman to another. To top it off, he’s a hockey player. Autumn doesn’t follow hockey. Oh, my. These

two have a lot to overcome before they can rise over the hump to get on the same side. She’ll have to learn to trust Sam again before she can love him. Will they succeed?

Rachel Gibson has once again proven why she’s a master of witty romantic comedy as she manages to make Sam and Autumn truly engaging as they maneuver the rocky road to love. You won’t go wrong in picking ANY MAN OF MINE for an all out fun read.

Spotlight Review:

DANTE’S HONOR-BOUND HUSBAND – Day Leclaire
The Dante Legacy, Book 8
Harlequin Desire #2087
ISBN: 978-0-373-73100-8
May 2011
Series Romance

San Francisco, California – Present Day

Eighteen months ago, Gianna Dante and Constantine Romano met at a Dante wedding reception. The attraction was mutual, and the first touch of their hands scared Gianna as much as it thrilled her. If legend held true, then the electrical charge she and Constantinefelt indicated the Dante Inferno had struck them and they were destined to be each other’s true love. But Constantineleft, telling Gianna he’d be back for her. In the intervening months, she grew fearful, not wanting to believe the truth of the legendary Inferno. So, she began dating another man and, when Constantineshowed up, she pushed him away.

But Constantineis persistent. What he feels for Gianna has nothing to do with the Inferno; rather he knows they belong together and he intends to make her his. Gianna is stubborn, but when an incident has her calling for help, it is Constantine who rushes to her side, and it is he who takes care of her. Before too long, it becomes clear to Gianna that she can no longer say no to Constantine. Yes, she’ll marry him. But is their connection due to the Inferno and will it indeed last, or is the power of the Inferno not true?

In the previous seven stories in The Dante Legacy series, each one has featured a male Dante. DANTE’S HONOR-BOUND HUSBAND has the only female up to this point. Gianna might be the pampered Dante heiress, but she isn’t spoiled and she has a mind of her own. Her fears about her future happiness and the potential effect of the Inferno have her scared, and her first reaction is to turn away from Constantine, despite the powerful attraction they have. The man she is currently dating, David, turns out to be a louse, and he has a past with Constantine. What a tangled coincidence. Why did Constantine leave Gianna just as they discovered each other? He didn’t want to court her as a man without monetary substance and worked hard until he was ready to claim Gianna as his. The passion and desire between Gianna and Constantine will leave readers with no doubt that these two belong together. They may resist the truth of the Inferno, but they can’t deny the powerful attraction they feel for each other. Will this lead to future happiness together?

Day Leclaire has once again provided readers with a passion filled tale revolving around the Dante family. We get caught up on the men of the family who make us realize (as a woman) how lucky the ladies are who have captured their hearts. Gianna and Constantine continue that tradition. If you haven’t read Ms. Leclaire, then I strongly suggest you do and start your reading journey with The Dante Legacy books. You won’t be sorry.

Q&A with Anita Clenney!

1.Tell us about your newest release.

This story was so much fun to write. It has big bad warriors, castles, demons, and swords. The foundation for the story is Michael the Archangel has a secret clan of warriors. Faelan is the mightiest warrior of his time, but he gets trapped in a time vault while trying to save the world from a vile demon. Bree is a historian who feels more like Indiana Jones. When she finds a treasure map in the old house she’s inherited, she’s expecting anything but the Scottish warrior who comes leaping out of his tomb at her.

The attraction between Faelan and Bree is instantaneous, and there is a good reason for that, but they also have to deal with a lot of frustration because they’re from such different times. Faelan can’t fathom a female being so bold and rash. The woman attracts danger like a bloody magnet. And she won’t let him protect her; he, a renowned warrior since before she was born. If he could drive that bloody thing she called a car, he’d toss her over his shoulder and get her away from her house before the demon who locked him up comes looking for him.

Bree feels something for Faelan that goes way beyond attraction, frighteningly so, but on the other hand she’s ready to stick him back in the time vault if he doesn’t stop with this over protective nonsense. It’s not the 19th century, for God’s sake, and he’s treating her like she’s helpless. Women are strong and independent. She’s tempted to drop him off at a homeless shelter but with that appetite (ALL his appetites are raging) he’d starve to death. And after she finds out what’s on the trail of this big, bad warrior, she’s glad to have all that muscle around for protection. And she’d give her entire Civil War collection to get her hands on that talisman hanging around his neck.

2. Can you tell us a little about your favorite scene in the story?

There are so many scenes I love; battles in chapels, mishaps in lingerie stores, botched rescues, but probably the opening scene, where she finds him, would have to be my favorite.

3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I didn’t start writing until about 5 ½ years ago. I had been reading like crazy and I just knew I could do this. Of course, I had no idea how difficult it really is, or how hard it is to get published. By the time I realized that, it was too late to back out.

4. Where do you get your information or ideas for your stories?

The idea for Awaken the Highland Warrior came from a dream. The demon part did anyway. Not a nice dream, I might add. I had been toying with the idea of a warrior who’d been found buried but not dead, so I used the ideas together.

5. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I have lots of quirks. I’m not sure about writing. I don’t know if it’s really a quirk, but I love brainstorming. It’s my favorite part of writing. I like to lie in bed with my eyes closed and think about the story, playing what if in my mind. Also, my fabulous critique partner and I do brainstorming sessions at Cracker Barrel or a Mexican restaurant every week or so. Cracker Barrel has the best pancakes. That’s a delicious quirk.

6. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

I’ve always known that I was a daydreamer, but I didn’t know how creative I was. My plots are big and layered with secrets and surprises.

7. What authors or friends influenced you in helping you become a writer?

I decided to write and dove in head first. No particular authors influenced me. I just loved reading and wanted to be able to create something like that. I found out that it wasn’t as easy as I had thought but there were so many authors who offered tips and their own experiences. My first instructor was Leigh Michaels, a great writer. She helped me when I was very new. Margie Lawson was wonderful in helping me hone the craft. I do have favorite authors. Diana Gabaldon, who I just discovered about a year ago. Love her. And Kristan Higgins. Anything she writes is good. Janet Evanovich, Elizabeth Peters, Harlan Coben. And I adore Jeri Westerson’s Crispin Guest series. Oh there are so many.

8. What does your family think about your career as a published author?

They’re very supportive and very proud. My daughter loves to tell people her mother is an author. My husband is only 37 but he’s planning his retirement to a large ranch since he’s sure I’m going to be rich and famous. He’s promised to take care of the kids and the house. Ha! I told him not to hold his breath.

9. Besides writing, what other interests do you have?

I love reading, shopping (my bargains are my treasure hunts), diamonds, mirrors (artwork) and trees. Of course, I love spending time with my family.

10. Can you tell us about what’s coming up next for you writing wise?

Embrace the Highland Warrior comes out in November. Right now I’m working on book three in the series, Unleash the Highland Warrior. Here are blurbs for each.

Embrace the Highland Warrior comes out in November. There is a lot of history and betrayal between the hero and heroine. It’s very poignant. And we’ll see all of the characters from the first book as secondary characters. Unleash the Highland Warrior comes out Fall 2012. It will have a unique twist. Again, all the characters will return in secondary roles. Here’s a little blurb on books two and three.

EMBRACE THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR. When the powerful demon that left Shay for dead discovers her empty grave, he comes seeking retribution, believing she possesses an ancient book he has sought for centuries. Knowing she can’t fight the demon alone, Shay returns to her clan and the Scottish Warrior who betrayed her…the only man she’s ever loved, where she discovers that betrayal isn’t always what it seems. Sometimes it’s far worse.

UNLEASH THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR. A talisman belonging to Tavis Connor’s brother is the only weapon powerful enough to kill the demon hell-bent on stealing the clan’s Book of Battles so he can destroy the world. But the talisman has been locked in a time vault with Tavis’s brother and won’t open for 150 years. In desperation, the Scottish warrior breaks the clan’s sacred rules and uses another time vault to travel forward so he can protect the book and rescue his brother, or if he’s dead, finish his quest. But when Tavis finally wakes in modern-day New York, he discovers he’s the one in need of help. Anna MacKinley has been searching for her clan’s Book of Battles which has been missing for 150 years, but instead she finds a warrior with no memories who claims he’s come to save the world.

A Perfect 10:

THE DAUGHTER OF SIENA - Marina Fiorato
A Perfect 10
St. Martin’s Griffin
ISBN: 978-0-312-60432-5
May 2011
Historical Fiction

Siena - 1729

The Palio has a long tradition in Siena. A wild horserace through the center of the city that has brought on severe rivalries between the districts within Siena, the Palio can be deadly serious. There are two races, a month apart, and the riders draw different horses to keep the competition fair.

Strikingly beautiful Pia Tolomei of the Civetta, or Owelet, district has suddenly been promised to the heir of a rival area, Vincenzo Caprimulgo of the Eagle contrada. Stunned by this news, Pia is well aware of Vincenzo’s reputation as being vicious and cruel. It is obvious to Pia that her father and Vincenzo’s have made an agreement of some kind, and Vincenzo’s arrival and implied threats to her leave her frozen in fear. She is to be married the next day after the first Palio race, and her only hope is that her future husband dies during the event. When that does happen, Pia is horrified, but then further so when she is immediately handed over to Vincenzo’s younger brother, Nello, who could be even worse than his sibling.

During the Palio, young Riccardo Bruni, who rides for his district and is considered the one to beat, sees another rider using a whip to blind Vincenzo, who is thrown from his horse and lies dying. Riccardo stops to help him, but knows immediately that there is no way to stop the bleeding. Later he is summoned to the Eagle’s lair where Vincenzo’s father thanks him for helping. But then Nello takes Riccardo to the dungeons where the rider who hit Vincenzo has been tortured and killed. Forced to carry the young man’s body to the center of Siena, Riccardo knows that he has been dragged into a dangerous game.

Duchess Violante de’ Medici of Siena is a lonely, sad woman who lost her twin boys after they were born and her husband to syphilis years later. She rules the city, but it seems in name only as the district leaders control everyday life. When she becomes aware of the death of Vincenzo, and then another young man’s life is taken in revenge, Violante comes out of her shell to prevent her adopted city from being torn apart.

THE DAUGHTER OF SIENA is a fascinating account of a real life race, as well as a story of behind-the-scenes events set during a time when city-states were ruled by one, but controlled by many families. The three main characters, Pia, Riccardo, and Violante, as well as a young orphan called Zebra, find themselves working together to save Siena from a consortium of these families who want to depose the duchess and control the city outright. How can these people achieve this seemingly impossible goal? That is what is magnificently detailed in this extraordinary novel. All of the characters are well rounded, historical detail brings Siena to life before the readers’ eyes, and it all comes together in this beautifully written tale.

A truly wonderful story, THE DAUGHTER OF SIENA is romantic, artistic, and filled with twists and turns. The ending is extremely satisfactory, but will surprise one and all. A Perfect 10 in every way.

Romantic Suspense

Venezuela– Present Day

Zakary Stark awakes to find a gun aimed at his head and three men in his room. He and the woman he was with the night before are in bed, naked. He and his brother, Gideon, are thrill seekers, but this is a bit over the top. Acadia Gray is terrified. Who are these men and what do they want? After winning the lottery, Acadia was looking forward to an adventure in Venezuela, but not this kind of adventure! After a bloody battle, more men arrive with a woman, Pinera, in command, and Zak, Acadia, and Gideon are taken prisoners. Acadiaexperienced her first one night stand (and what a stand it was!) the night before, and now a frightening kidnapping. She is wearing a vest with twenty-eight hidden pockets. Hopefully she will have something in the pockets to help as they make their way through the jungle.

The kidnappers demand two million dollars from each of them for their release. Zak and Gideon are wealthy
entrepreneurs in the computer industry. Acadia does have some interesting things in her pockets and is able to put something in their drinks to make all the guards deathly ill, and the three are able to escape. Gideon has broken ribs but manages to walk a long distance before they stop to rest. Zak is very rude to Acadia, calls her Barbie, but he has to admit that she is not a cry baby, and he is very attracted to her.

They cut their way through the jungle, but the kidnappers are behind them, following their trail. Acadia puts on a brave front as they head for the river. Gideon and Zak decide to separate and find each other in Caracasin a few days. She thinks about her nice safe home and wonders why she ever came to Venezuela. There are many adventures ahead before the protagonists discover who is behind this whole scheme.

HUSH is an adventure from page one to the end. Gunfire, explosions…Zak and Acadia no sooner save themselves from one thing, before someone else is chasing after them trying to kill them. It’s a thrill a minute. My favorite scene is when Acadia plays poker with some of the locals. Very clever and very funny! She is a terrific character. The romance between Acadia and Zak sizzles with heat. All of the secondary characters enhance the story, from Gideon, who has such a close relationship to his brother, to the evilness of some of the characters.

An intense story, readers will feel as if they are sweating in the jungles of Venezuela along with the protagonists. Ms. Adair’s writing is impeccable, the dialogue is good, and the pacing is non-stop action. There is just a touch of the paranormal in this amazing thriller.

Q&A with Lisa Greer!!!

1. Tell us about your newest release.

My novel is a gothic romance novel titled 'Magnolian.' It was released last month (April 2011) in e-book format and will be released in September 2011 in print format from Siren Book-Strand. In the novel, the heroine, Lillian Mullins, goes South after her father's death to stay with her Grandmother Stark at Magnolian, the ancestral home of her mother's family. Soon, nightmares, ghosts, and murder threaten to derail her attempt to get a life. After she finds her mother's old journal at Magnolian and learns a shocking secret, Lillian resolves to find out what happened over thirty years ago there to her mother's African American lover, Samson Jones. Two men compete for her love and aid her in solving the mystery from the past that threatens her life in the present: her enigmatic distant cousin Willoughby Tate who is running his father's gubernatorial campaign and the sensitive pianist, Donovan Ross, whom she is just getting to know. As with many gothic
romance novels, the novel has a twist or two to keep readers guessing.

2. Can you tell us a little about your favorite scene in the story?

My favorite scene is a Thanksgiving dinner scene where both of the men who are after Lillian's heart-- Donovan and Willoughby-- show up at the feast. When Lillian leaves the table for a few minutes, the determined Willoughby goes after her, and that leads to a sexy and funny scene.

3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I have wanted to write since reading my first Nancy Drew novels probably right after Kindergarten.

4. Where do you get your information or ideas for your stories?

My stories come from a variety of places. Setting is important to me; place has a major role. Once I decide on the setting for a novel, the writing unfolds easily. I have lived in several places over the last ten years: Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and Canada, and I have traveled to many others. So far, three of these settings have been integral in my novels. My upbringing and life in a small town in Alabama played a central role in how I wrote 'Magnolian.' I have always hated reading about generic settings or places the novelist obviously has not spent time in or lived in. As for the characters and plots of my novels, I get ideas from the news or from something someone says. In my current work in progress, one of the key elements came from an offhand comment a good friend made. I always have my eyes and ears open for ideas.

5. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I would say my interesting quirk is that I don't plan my novels meticulously. I get a general idea of the plot and where I want my heroine and hero to end up, and I start writing. As the novel unfolds, I take time to sketch out scenes and what I want to happen next.

6. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

I was surprised to find out that my muse tends to visit me around 1 a.m. most mornings; I have learned to jot her ideas down in a little note pad by my bed or get up for a few minutes and write them down in a file on my computer. These ideas are some of the best ones I get, and they come a couple times a week.

7. What authors or friends influenced you in helping you become a writer?

The author who has influenced me most is Barbara Mertz, especially in her gothic romance novels penned under the name Barbara Michaels. I was told recently that my style is a bit like hers, and that was a huge compliment to me. Others like Daphne DuMaurier, Phyllis A. Whitney, and Anya Seton have also shaped the type of novels I like to read and write about. Next, my husband directly influenced my first novel with his question: "When are you going to write a novel?" He asked me that, and I started it the next day. I realized he was right; it was time. My best friend has also been a huge support for me; she encouraged me to follow my dreams and had a hand in heping me with some technical stuff on my first blog. Finally, my blog readers have influenced me greatly. I founded the Gothicked Blog some months ago before I started writing. I review gothic novels there, especially gothic romance novels, and the comments and
insights of readers helped me absorb myself in that world fully. Some of my blog readers and commenters there have also been beta readers for my novels; I appreciate that tremendously because they have years of reading this genre of work under their belts.

8. What does your family think about your career as a published author?

My husband is my rock and main support. I have to say, though, that he was astonished at how quickly I completed my first novel and was dumbfounded to learn I had begun another one a couple months ago. My daughter knows when I'm writing and is good about letting me have a chunk of time to do that if an idea has come to me at the moment. Overall, though, I try to write when she is at school or in bed. She is excited about my debut novel.

9. Besides writing, what other interests do you have?

I enjoy reading, activism of various types, stimulating conversation, spending time with friends, and long walks.

10. Can you tell us about what’s coming up next for you writing wise?

I am submitting my second novel now to agents and writing my third novel. The second novel is a gothic romance novel set in Brownsville where I currently live, and the other novel is a sequel to 'Magnolian.'

Manhattan, New York and Paris, France – 1940 to 1945

Claire Harris Stone, real name Clara May Wagner, is married to Russell and has earned her
jewelry by helping him in his nefarious business dealings. She is sophisticated and beautiful. Shocked to receive a letter from her family whom she has not seen for eleven years, she remembers the day she left the small
Oklahoma farm for the big city. Knowing Russell will be angry to discover that she is really just a poor country girl, not the upper class woman he believes, it is time to leave. She packs up her belongings and goes to Paris hoping to see an ex-lover, Laurent.

Claire arrives in Paris, but Laurent and his friend, Englishman Thomas Harding Grey, want to send her back to New York. They tell her that Parisis too dangerous with the Germans getting close to the city. She refuses to leave and walks through the city coming across a pretty flower shop. Claire meets the proprietor, Madame Palain, and ends up with a job and a small apartment above the shop. A few weeks later, the swastika flag is flying over Paris. Claire is horrified at the cruelty of the Nazi soldiers. She stays out of their way
because she does not have the proper documents.

One afternoon, Claire runs across Laurent and his friend, Grey. She attends their party that
evening and meets Odette. Odette asks her to spy on the Nazis when she goes into the hotels with her flowers, and in exchange, Odette promises her some forged papers so the Germans will not arrest her. Her first inclination is to say no, but after a close call, she agrees. She meets some influential men and some collaborators and passes on whatever information she gleans. Grey is her contact. How dangerous will this be for Claire?

Claire had been pretty much of a party girl before she arrived in Paris, thinking only of herself. Now she is involved in some dangerous spying for theresistance. She hates what she sees the Nazis and collaborators doing, but loves the beautiful city. She feels more like a Parisian every day, gets more involved in helping her adopted country, and begins to care about Thomas Grey. Readers will get caught up in this amazing story set during World War II. The German SS soldiers are brutal, the people cowed under their dominance, but Claire is intelligent and very much a heroine. This reviewer had a hard time putting the book down, it was so captivating. THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS has friendship, romance, betrayal, and intrigue. Well written by this debut author and with excellent pacing and a heart-felt story, there is only one way to celebrate this wonderful book, and that is by giving it a Perfect 10.

A Perfect 10:

THE RESTORER – Amanda Stevens
The Graveyard Queen Series – Book 1
A Perfect 10
MIRA
ISBN: 978-0-7783-2981-7
May 2011
Paranormal Romance

Charleston, South
Carolina – Present Day

Amelia Gray is a cemetery restorer. Restoring cemeteries is a precise art, involving a lot of research and careful care. But Amelia is well versed in abiding by strict rules and procedures. When she was just a little girl, Amelia saw her first ghost, and since then her father has hammered the rules into her. Do not acknowledge the ghosts, and do not associate with haunted people. But when Officer Devlin interrupts her after-dinner walk to ask for her help with a case involving a cemetery, Amelia begins to see that the rules she has abided by all her life are not always so easy to follow.

Someone is using the old cemetery to hide fresh bodies, and Devlin believes Amelia may hold the key to finding the murderer. The more Amelia and Devlin work together, the more potent the attraction becomes, and the more she realizes Devlin is draining her energy as much as his ghosts are draining him. Amelia knows she should just share her knowledge of the cemetery and walk away from it and Devlin, but when the killer starts leaving her clues and nearly attacks her, she knows there’s no turning back.

THE RESTORER is one of those books that crosses genre lines and manages to rise to the top of each one. A mix of paranormal, romance, mystery, and suspense, this is a novel that really will appeal to a large number of
people and will easily be loved by just as many. Amelia is a smart heroine dedicated to her craft, and this knowledge and appreciation of the restoration craft appears well researched and incredibly dead on, pardon the pun.

The relationship between Devlin and Amelia is electric, organic, and something special. The description of not only the characters, but the setting and story as a whole was so incredibly vivid, I was even a little afraid to go upstairs after finishing the book in case the ghosts had actually leapt from the page. THE RESTORER more than deserves a Perfect 10 rating, because this truly is a beautiful, haunting tale that will stick with you long after you close the book.

Readers should keep a look out for the future books in The Graveyard Queen series, THE KINGDOM (November 2011) and THE PROPHET (May 2012).

Q&A with Carol Cassada!

1. Tell us about your newest release.

Westmore is the first in the series, it a romance novel with a soap opera appeal. The novel revolves around three families; The Greens, The Braxtons, and The Reynolds.
The Greens are a lower class family, the matriarch is Charlotte who's getting back into the dating scene following the death of her husband Michael, when she thinks all hope is lost a handsome detective by the name of Jim Bryant comes to her rescue. Peter is the youngest of the Green children who returns home after a long absence with his new girl whose ten years older than him and causes worry for his mother. Scott and Alicia are singing siblings who are trying to make it to the big top, but their plans maybe derailed.
The Braxtons consist of publishing tycoon Andrew Braxton who is a controlling and manipulative man, wife Elizabeth fed up with his behavior decides to end their twenty-five year marriage. Meanwhile son Wayne is looking to break free from the family business, yet his father sets in motion a diabolical plan which causes pain for his family, but other citizens.
Jeff Braxton and his wife Marie face trouble in their marriage after their only daughter leaves home. Marie upset they never had more children, blames his family for costing her a second child, this startling revealation could spell the end for their marriage.
The Reynolds consists of widower Stan whose life is turned upside down when son Jacob begins dating rocker Alicia Green. Plus Stan's daughter and granddaughter Laura and Megan move home after Laura's divorce. Just when things are getting back to normal for Laura, her ex shows up unexpectedly.
Towards the end of the novel an accident occurs which affects the lives of everyone.

2. Can you tell us a little about your favorite scene in the story?

One of the most powerful scenes in the story is when Marie who secretly blames her late father-in-law Clayton for costing her a second child and has been holding all the pint up emotions inside of her for so long, unleashes her wrath. She takes a framed picture of him and destroys it, smashing the glass and stomping on the photo, readers feel her pain. After the destruction a great relief encompasses her, it's like she gets a good feeling destroying something of her father-in-law, in a way she's paying him back for all the misery he caused her.

3. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

It wasn't until my teen years when I became interested in writing. I took creative writing classes in high school and then in college, one of the reasons I loved writing is because it was relaxing. I'm the type of person who easily gets stressed and writing helped me relieve my tension. By the time I graduated high school I realized I wanted to be a writer. At first I was gonna go into the journalism field and be a reporter, then I decided I wanted to write books for a living. After I graduated from Old Dominion University in 2008 I began writing my first book Going Home Again which was released by Romance Divine in February 2010.

4. Where do you get your information or ideas for your stories?

For Westmore I watched a lot of soaps, I've been a soap opera fanatic for many years. In fact I started writing the ideas for Westmore when I was about fifteen, I originally wanted to be a writer for soap operas and have my ideas put into a show, but I knew it'd be too far fetched. Throughout the years I kept writing new ideas, changing titles, and renaming characters. Then one day an idea popped into my head, why not take my ideas and turn Westmore into a book series, so in July of 2010 I began working on it.

5. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

As far as my writing ritual goes, I've got to have privacy, if there are people around and they're distracting me, then I can't get any work done. I also like to listen to music, especially rock tunes it helps get my creative flow going.

6. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

It's a lot of hard work. This time around I chose to go the self-publishing route by using Createspace. I had to do all the work, besides editing the manuscript, there's creating a cover, setting up the sales channel, and most important promoting the book. Sure it's a tough, but if you're serious about writing, then you need to commit yourself to every aspect of the business.

7. What authors or friends influenced you in helping you become a writer?

I can't think of an author who really influenced me, I just decided I was gonna be a writer and followed through with my dream.

8. What does your family think about your career as a published author?

They're proud of me and have been very supportive, especially my mom, she's the one who encouraged me to follow my dream of writing. There were times when I thought about giving up and she was on my case about continuing with my writing. Aside from supporting me she's been very helpful in the promotion, she brags to all her friends about me. I couldn't have done any of this without her.

9. Besides writing, what other interests do you have?

Aside from writing, I love to read mostly paranormal, supernatural, and folklore books. Spending time with my family, which includes going out to dinner, to the movies, or shopping. But there's nothing I love more than playing with my three dogs and two cats.

10. Can you tell us about what’s coming up next for you writing wise?

I'm currently working on the sequel to Westmore, which deals with the aftermath of the accident and the repercussions people face. I hope to have it out by the end of the year. Aside from the sequel I occassionally do freelance work.

11. How can readers connect with you online?

They can visit my website http://www.carolcassada.net/

Spotlight Review:

ROYAL WEDDINGS – Stephanie Laurens, Gaelen Foley, Loretta Chase
An Original Anthology
Avon Impulse (New Harper Collins E-book Imprint)
April 2011
Historical Romantic Anthology

THE WEDDING PLANNER – Stephanie Laurens
London – April 1820

After the death of her fiancé on the battlefield of Waterloo, Lady Margaret Dawlish puts her knowledge of society protocol to good use by planning weddings for her family and friends. She is currently arranging a wedding between Viscount de Rocher, a prince of the royal house of France, and a friend, Juliette. She is surprised to see that Robert’s cousin, the Duc de Perigord, better known to her as Gaston Devilliers, is to be the best man (head groomsman). They had a strong attraction to each other when they met several years ago when she was affianced to another man. Gaston knows what he wants and carefully plans his strategy, but will Meg want to give up her independence?

EVER AFTER – Galen Foley
London – 1816

Eleanor Montford, the Countess of Archer, is unfashionably in love with her husband, James Augustus Montford, Colonel Lord Archer. She doesn’t let him know the overwhelming passion she feels for him… and jealousy. She thinks he is having an affair because he has been away from home so much of late. Archer loves his wife and doesn’t understand why she has been so cold and distant lately. Is there any chance to sustain this marriage? Everything comes to a head at the royal wedding between Princess Charlotte and her true love, Leopold.

THE JILTING OF LORD ROTHWICK – Loretta Chase
1840

After receiving a letter breaking their betrothal, Hugh Fitzwalter, the third Marquess of Rothwick, arrives in the pouring rain to confront Barbara Findley. He is very upset—he desperately needs the money that she would bring to the marriage to repair his estate and help all who depend on him. Because of the money, he had been afraid he would have to wed an ugly crone, but instead found a woman who is beautiful and full of life. Barbara fell in love with Hugh at first sight, but now has second thoughts about entering a loveless marriage. The day after tomorrow, Queen Victoria will wed Prince Albert.

Three delightful romantic novellas that readers are sure to enjoy with the backdrop of different ROYAL WEDDINGS of the 1800’s. With these three excellent authors, you know all the stories will be enjoyable reads. My only complaint is I would have liked the stories to be longer and more detailed because they are so good. They are all beautifully written with wonderful characters and appropriate for the season of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s nuptials. I highly recommend this charming anthology, available at online bookstores or through www.avonromance.com .
