Little, Brown & Co. (Hardcover)
General Fiction, Holiday
Mainly Stockbridge, Massachusetts – the Present
Abby Summerhill, a fifty-four year-old part-time teacher, farmer, food-blogger and all-around giving woman feels it's time to get all her family together. It would be the first time since her beloved husband Peter's funeral three years ago. She has just the bait to get her four children with their mates and children to come home for Christmas. Abby has many friends, but four are really close; they feed the homeless breakfast every morning in Abby's barn. There are: Stacey Lee Pashcow, her best female friend; Martin Summerehill, a builder and Peter's brother; Tom Haden, a farmer and a friend of Abby's since childhood; and lastly, liberal Rabbi Jacob Coleman with a highly developed sense of humor. One of the three men proposed to Abby and the other two quickly followed suit…seriously. Any one would make her a loving husband.
Abby sends videos to her family in which she invites them all to Christmas…and a wedding in her barn. If they wish to know the identity of the groom, they will just have to show up.
Abby and her suitors are delightful characters. The men's competition for Abby's hand is good natured; she's not telling them her choice until the day .
In a fast 260 pages, THE CHRISTMAS WEDDING also explores Abby's children and their families. Here is where some serious conflict arises, at least in the case of her oldest daughter. As in real life, all is not smooth sailing, but the story wraps up, as all holiday books should, on a light-hearted, happy note. For the most part, these are people one would be glad to call friends. Spend a few hours in their company in the coming season and enjoy!
