Books to Movies

Friday marks the release of the final Harry Potter film. I'll be honest and say I never got into HP, but I have a friend who is going to spend hours in line to get in for the Midnight showing. Tenacious. LOL

Harry Potter is, of course, based upon the novels by JK Rowling. I'm sure she couldn't have even dreamed of the success she'd have when she sat down to write the first HP book. Can she do it again? Time will tell.

I found this site that lists books made into movies:

http://www.bookreporter.com/features/books2movies.asp

There also has been romance novels made into movies or made for television movies. Some good. Some bad.

This topic got me to thinking...

What book or series would you be interested in seeing made into a movie (or series of movies)? I know the Janet Evanovich novels are being made into one, so that is probably too easy for you to answer. ;-)

Be creative. Surely you have a favorite book or series you want to see on the screen?

Just for playing, I'll toss in a $10 gift card to Amazon or BN.com to one lucky poster. You can post more than once, just can't be entered more than once.

I'll announce a winner early next week.
Good luck.

I watched the new Harry Potter movie today. I spent hours waiting in line and my feet hurt, but it was worth it. It was an amazing movie and I'm going to miss the series. :)

I would love to see the Fallen series by Lauren Kate on the big screen. The film rights have actually been sold and they're doing the casting so it'll probably happen. :D

I have to admit I never got into the Harry Potter mania, same with Twilight. I'm sure they're popular for good reason bu for some reason I was never drawn to them.

I would like to see the FEVER series on screen whether on TV or cinema. Same with THE BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD series. Though, I love the idea I am somewhat on the fence regarding turning my favourite books into films. I'm just afraid putting them on screen won't do them justice just because reading them brings up such rich detailed images of their world, I'd hate to see them fail to live up to expectations.

I've loved the Harry Potter movies and felt that they've stayed pretty true to the books which is why I think they have been so successful.

I can't wait to see the first Stephanie Plum movie. I love the beginning of the Janet Evanovich series so it should be interesting.

One series that I would love to see made into a movie are Pamela Clare's I-Team series. A good romantic suspense that would appeal to both men and women :) I think they would make fantastic movies!

I would love to see the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon on the movie screen, but only if they follow the story and actually have good actors and director.

Two of my favorite series have already been mentioned....Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood and Kenyon's Dark-Hunters. I also think Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville series would be a great choice to hit the big or little screen.

Well I LOVE Cindy Miles' romances, and I think they would make fabulously sigh worthy movies. Historical heroes with accents and modern women set in modern times.... Oh, yes :-)

Hmm... Ms. Brockmann's Troubleshooters, Ellen Connor's Nightfall (although that would be some SCARY stuff!), and Ann Aguirre's Sirantha Jax series...

So many YA books are being made/were made into films but not many with the success of the Harry Potter or the Twilight films. Sure, there's all that brouhaha about the upcoming The Hunger Games movie, but I think I'll just wait for the DVD.

As for a series I'd like to see on the screen, I really want new productions of P. G. Wodehouse's Jeeves stories, even though the Stephen Fry/Hugh Laurie BBC series was excellent.

Sherryl Woods has a series of books about a group of southern women who really bond together...much like Steel Magnolias. I'd like to see along those lines, or perhaps her series Chesapeake Shores..which might be a reminder of Peyton Place if a few liberties were thrown in.
