Book Giveaway: LUCKY BREAK by Carly Phillips!

I bought two copies of Lucky Break by Carly Phillips and am giving one away to ONE lucky winner.

Blurb:

Long ago, as revenge on a Corwin who stole her son's fiancee, a witch proclaimed an eternal curse that every Corwin male who married for love would be destined to lose his love and his fortune ...

Jason Corwin knows he should resist his attraction to Lauren Perkins. After all, it was one of her ancestors that came up with the curse that had haunted every Corwin male since. But after one night of mind-blowing sex with his supposed—and very seductive—enemy, he can’t bring himself to stay away.

It's the final book of the Lucky series, with the first two being LUCKY CHARM and LUCKY STREAK.

To enter the contest, tell us about whether you read a series in order or not. Post your responses and I'll draw a winner on Wednesday night!

I prefer to read series books in the order that they are written.

However, sometimes they are released far apart or it is a new author for me and I have to read it out of sequence. As long as the book can stand on its own and not reveal too much information, I'm OK with it.

I usually read a series in order, but there are times where I may read a novella in an anthology or buy a new author and not realize it is book 2 or 3 of a series. In that case, I do try to buy the series in order but read what I have first.

Most of the time in order. I will sometimes miss that the book in hand is part of series, then I will get back in the correct order.

I ALWAYS read series in order. If I read the second book first, it kills my motivations to read book 1 ;-)
I usually prefer the last book in series... this one should rock !!

I always mean to read a series in order, but rarely do. If I hear about a good book like this one, it doesn't bother me to buy it out of sequence and purchase the other later if I can. Thanks for askin.

Well...it all depends on much I want to read a particular entry in the series. If I can't wait, I'll go ahead and read an entry out of sequence. Other times, I'm very good and wait to read the series in chronological order. However, sometimes I have read a book without realizing at first that it was part of a series. If it's a good read, then I make it a point to seek out "the rest of the story".

I always read a series in order. If I pick up a book by an author unfamiliar to me I print out the backlist from their website and review. Can you tell I am an accountant?

I prefer to read in order but usually the author does a pretty good job of including the 'need to know' info of the previous books.

I prefer to read a series in order. I love that it continues the previous story plot but add new characters and a new twist. The Lucky series is full of gorgeous sexy men lol what more do you ask for? Another of my all time favorites is the Cedar Cove Series by Debbie Macomber. I feel as though I have been right in Cedar cove, the stories are amazing and I have stuck with it over several years. Check it out.

I usually read in order I want to make sure i know what is going on from the start and don't want to miss any of it.
But I have read them out of order before and seemed to do fine it might been just that author that did such a good job keeping it together

I prefer to read in order, if it's the same characters each time, or if it's an epic series, where events from earlier books, even if it doesn't feature the same characters, carry on into the next, kinda like the Dark-Hunter series. But for some, like Lynsay Sands' Argeneau series.. I read that one out of order, at least when I first found it, now I'm all caught up.

I sometimes start a series out of order but once I am hooked I will try to read them chronologically.

I like to try and read a series in order, but sometimes if it is a new to me author and I am not aware it's a series I may read the newest one first, then if I liked it I will go back and read the previous ones in order if at all possible :)

I am positively rabid about reading books in order; it takes a lot for me to "break formation."

It all depends on if you have to or not. Sometimes I do, sometimes I dont. This series I havent, just because I read the first one, havent gotten the second one yet, but bought the 3rd one when it came out recently. Im right in the middle of another book at the moment, but cant wait until I can get to Lucky Break. I love all Carlys books.

I like to buy my books at a local book reseller and I often pick books off the shelf that simply peak my interest. Most often it will be book 2 or 3 of a series and book 1 will not be available. With the "Lucky" series by Carly Phillips, I started with the 1st and made my way through the 3rd. It is a really great way to delve deeper into a host of characters and an interesting local. By reading a series you get a broader look at the world the author has created.

I like to read a series in order if I can. If it an author I read al the time, then I know that what books are in the series. But if it is a new to me author and I have found the book in mid series, I will try to find the others to read. I like knowing what's happeing with the characters, but not necessarliy in order..
I have already read the first two books in the Lucky series and I would love to get me hands on this copy...
I feel Lucky!!!!!

I'm fanatical about this...I only read series books in order AND I won't start reading them UNTIL I have them all in hand! I'm reading the School for Heiresses series by Sabrina Jeffries now. So, I'm usually reading books that are pretty old by release date standards.

The only series I've read without waiting for them all is The Cynsters by Stephanie Laurens.

if the series goes chronologically and events in one depend on events from another, i always read them in order. if it merely has the same characters and the plot lines are mostly seperate, i'm not as worried about the order.

carly philiips is a great author!

Hi, I ALWAYS read a series in order!!Series books are my fav kind. I haven't read the Lucky books yet, I was waiitng for the last one to come out. At times I'll start buying the series and put it away, sometimes I buy them all at once. I have read out of order a few times and I found it confusing, could be just my advancing age!! Hahaha!!! Thanks, Sue

I love series books and if I read them out of order it's totally by accident. A lot of times I will wait to read them until I have them all. I am reading the Lucky series right now and Lucky Break is the only one I don't have. The others have been great

Lady_Graeye said...

I like to read them in order. It's like OCD for me! I have to make a mental note when I find out the next one is to come out so I can rush out to get it. If it is a series I just ran across by accident, I must buy the whole series so I know I have them. If I don't then I go into a panic mode trying to find the next one. I not like that with anything but my books! It's crazy I know it but I just that way!

If at all possible I try to read a series in the order they come out. However, if I hear of an interesting series I have not read I have been known to read the current book out and if I enjoy it will go back and read the previous stories.

I'd prefer to read a series in the correct order, but it doesn't always work out that way. I've been given books out of a series and gotten hooked so I'd find myself looking for all the books to start the series from the beginning.

I prefer to read a series in order too! If I find a new author and series then I research and backtrack! I have multiple wishlists in my library as well as book store! I go a-huntin'. Some large series like the Dark-Hunters by Kenyon or Breed series by Leigh are difficult to read in order but as I read them I start jotting down notes on each book to help keep the story arc in my head! I immerse myself in the stories! Love it!

I prefer to read a series in order, although sometimes it doesn't always work out that way. It just depends on what the book stores have in stock at the time, or if I know it's part of a series.

I can't wait to read "Lucky Break", have heard so many good things about it.

I do prefer to read books in the order they are written. I read all Lee Child's books in two months and now finishing up John Sanford's "Prey" series...
Had opportunity over summer to meet Lee Child. One of the books seemed out of context... He told audience he wrote it as such to show where characters came from..Interesting! Mick Mac

I try to read a series in order if possible; the very first series I read(Sandra Brown's Texas Trilogy) my dh has bought me the second book so therefore I didn't read it in order and it was fine.

If I can get all the series I am more wont to buy all books and then read. Or wait till all are available such as Brenda Novak's Last Stand series.

If its an author I know and love I am always aware when a new series starts therefore read these books in order. When reading a new author, not knowing it is a series, I will read the book I have, if she/he is worth my loyality I will go back and read previous writings.
