Spotlight Review: BARE DEVOTION by Lacey Thorn

BARE DEVOTION - Lacey Thorn

Legacy - Present Day

With a serial arsonist/murderer on the loose in the town of Legacy, fire marshal Blake Summers is determined to find any clue that will lead him to the person terrorizing the city. When a black clad figure approaches the latest crime scene, Blake calls the detectives working the case and then tackles the “suspect”. Only after he tackles the suspect does he realize that it’s a woman.

Ally Samms is determined to find the man calling himself The Messenger, the person responsible for killing her mother and her mother’s lover. In the past, Ally’s visions and ability to connect to either the victim or the killer have led her to work with the police, but this time she’s on her own. She’s aware that the Legacy police and fire marshal aren’t likely to believe her story, but the arrival of her long-lost cousin Tommy – now known as Ben Marcum – saves her from interrogation, and introduces her to the Daniels family. While she enjoys meeting them, Ally is relieved when Blake insists on taking her home. But will she be able to convince him to allow her to help with the investigation before The Messenger takes another victim?

While Ally, Blake and the others try to find the murderer, Catherine Daniels struggles with a decision that is tearing her apart. After her husband of thirty-four years died, Catherine devoted herself to her children, but she’s recently met someone. Roman Davis understands why she hides their relationship from her children, but he’s tired of their love being a secret.

Lacey Thorn weaves quite a few story threads into a captivating tale in BARE DEVOTION. After his divorce, Blake didn’t think he’d ever trust a woman again, but he falls for Ally immediately. Between her gift and the fact that she was raised by a lesbian couple, Ally is accustomed to being the freak or outcast, and while she falls pretty quickly for Blake, she doesn’t believe anything will come of it. After a very steamy night with Blake, she learns that he sometimes likes to share women with his friend Shep. This isn’t something Ally’s ever thought of doing before, but she can’t help but wonder what it would be like.

Ally hadn’t been looking for her cousin, and she’s thrilled to find Tommy/Ben at first, but when he tells his family about her past she’s hurt and can’t help remembering that when Tommy ran away from home, he left her behind also, in spite of their closeness. Seeing him with his wife, Katie’s family, Ally is glad that he’s found happiness, and a bit envious. Those who have been reading the Bare Love series will enjoy the chance to catch up with not only Katie and Ben, but also Moira and Gil Daniels, Griff – soon to be the only single brother, with Doug, Cass and Damon about to tie the knot – and several other members of the “extended” family. The romance between Catherine and Roman started in an earlier book, but the time has come for Catherine to decide if her love for Roman is strong enough to risk her children’s disapproval. There are a few hints at books to come, and I for one look forward to visiting with the Daniels clan again and seeing more of them find the perfect match. A sexy short story and a thoroughly enjoyable one, BARE DEVOTION is a sure-fire hit, whether you’ve read the previous stories or not.

Spotlight Review: INDENTURED BRIDE by Regan Taylor

INDENTURED BRIDE – Regan Taylor
Book 1 of the Bride Series
Awe-Struck E-Books - www.awe-struck.net
ISBN 978-1-58749-653-0
March 2008
Historical Romance
Adler Creek, Wyoming – 1855-1860

Brett Parker, half Cheyenne and half white, has sworn off marriage after being told he was a dirty half-breed and no one would want to marry him. He is the deputy in Adler Creek, and his good friend, Rick Hansen, is the sheriff.

Twenty-one year-old Jennifer Matthews’s parents are dead. After her father committed suicide, her mother’s brother, Julian, becomes her guardian until she is twenty-five. Ever since she was a child, her uncle has tried to force his attentions on her. When Julian tries to rape Jennifer, she hits him over the head with a lamp, and thinking he is dead, she runs away, jumps on an empty rail car and ends up in Virginia. She finds a group of women heading west as mail-order brides, changes her name to Jenna, and joins their party. Meeting Bea and Belle, she becomes part of their threesome in a wagon train.

When Brett discovers there is a woman with no one waiting for her, he claims her for his bride. Jenna finds Brett to be a handsome, honorable man, but she worries what he will do when he discovers her past, and Brett worries what Jenna will do when she finds out about his Cheyenne heritage. Even though Jenna does not want to marry, she is attracted to Brett. There is a photographer aboard the train who has taken pictures of the wedding train, although Jenna has tried to evade getting in the pictures. Will the people of Adler Creek discover that Jenna Martin is really Jennifer Matthews, a murderess who is wanted in Maryland? Can the handsome deputy protect her?

Mail-order bride stories always sound so romantic, and this one is no exception. It is easy to imagine the jubilation in the small town when the train arrives with twenty-three ladies looking for their husbands-to-be. The women form strong friendships on the four-month trip west and are anxious to marry and start families; the men are pleased to alleviate their loneliness and have women in their lives. Although many variations of this tale have been written in the past, INDENTURED BRIDE tells the story of a woman reluctant to marry and a man who is concerned that his Cheyenne heritage will be unacceptable to his new bride. Some of the misunderstandings between Brett and Jenna are disconcerting, and I wanted to shake some sense into them; Uncle Julian is a vile over-the-top villain. A few things which didn’t ring true were some of Brett and Jenna’s interaction with each other and Julian’s plans for Jenna.

INDENTURED BRIDE is a romantic tale with just a bit of suspense. It is an interesting story, it flows well, and is easy to read. If you enjoy stories of the old west, I think you will enjoy it, too. Brett has two brothers, one white man, Kendrick, who is a U.S. Marshall, and one full blood Cheyenne, Buck. Look for their stories in Books 2 and 3 in this series.

Spotlight Review: DARK AWAKENINGS by Laura Billingsley

DARK AWAKENINGS - Laura Billingsley
The McGillis Family Chronicles, Book 1
Whiskey Creek Press Torrid - http://www.whiskeycreekpress.com/torrid/
ISBN: 978-1-60313-059-2
March 2008
Erotic Romantic Suspense

Mid-Western United States - Present Day

Darby Rush is trying to get on with her life after her husband, Sean, a detective, was killed in an undercover operation. She has to be strong for her precious eight-year-old daughter, Amy. But Amy is well-adjusted and has a new friend to keep her happy. Jeff McGillis is the same age as Amy, and he is staying with his uncle and aunt while his father goes on a business trip. Jeff’s father, Adam, owns a horse ranch, and Jeff hopes to work with his father this summer. Amy and Jeff meet at Sunday school and become the best of friends.

This summer should be fancy free, and but a sinister individual is watching Darby’s every move. He wants Darby and will stop at nothing to have her for his own. Darby quickly realizes that she is being watched as she notices a man in a pickup following her wherever she goes. She decides to call Sean’s good friend, Sheldon Williams, who also goes by the nickname “Six Pack” to check out this peeping Tom. Sheldon cares for Darby and wants to protect her. So, he gets some of his hard-nosed buddies to investigate. He hopes this will change Darby’s feelings for him from friendship to love.

But as Amy and Jeff become even closer, Sheldon doesn’t count on Darby meeting Adam. Adam is definitely interested in Darby and starts a tentative romance with the young widow. As things progress between the two, Darby’s stalker has become more aggressive and resorts to another plan of action. He will find a way to kidnap Darby and make her do whatever he wants, and if he succeeds, he may just kill her also.

Laura Billingsley has written an interesting tale with romance, mystery, and suspense all rolled into one. The first few chapters introduce two children who are carefree and beloved by both their families. I initially thought this would be a matchmaking romance where Amy and Jeff try to get their parents together. Instead, DARK AWAKENINGS becomes a dark tale and every woman’s nightmare when a deranged stalker wants Darby in the most disturbing ways. By the time Darby is able to let go of the memory of her first husband and become lovers with Adam, there is a sense of impending doom because of the unknown villain of the piece. When all the pieces of the puzzles fall together, it maybe too late for Darby.

The romance between Darby and Adam is very hot, sexy and shouldn’t disappoint most readers. But I must give a word of caution. Towards the end of DARK AWAKENINGS, there are some graphic scenes of sexual abuse by the stalker and what he does to Darby. Because of this, I had to stop reading and re-focus myself for what was to come. But ultimately, Darby is saved by Adam and Sheldon, who is also a true hero in his own right.

For one taut story that has a nice romance with an underlying storyline about the importance of family, DARK AWAKENINGS will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end.

A Perfect Ten: LIFELINES by C.J. Lyons

LIFELINES - C. J. Lyons
A Perfect 10
Berkley
ISBN: 978-0-425-22082-5
March 2008
Contemporary Fiction
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Present Day

Dr. Lydia Fiore has just transferred from Los Angeles, California. Her first day at Angels of Mercy Medical Center is eventful. She saves a boy, Theo Pearson, when she ignores protocol and irritates many of the staff with her unorthodox treatment. She saves the life of a baby who had been misdiagnosed, then loses Jonah Weiss, whose father is Elliott Weiss, Chief of Surgery. He wants Lydia’s head on a platter. What an inauspicious beginning, and she doesn’t even have a place to stay other than a small motel. Is her career over before it has begun in Pittsburgh?

You have to read LIFELINES to believe it. The writing, storyline, descriptions, and characterizations are simply superb. There are several threads that wind up being connected by dark, human evil and that delve into just how low men can sink in their greed and inhumanity to others. The collection of characters, doctors, nurses, residents, interns, med students, paramedics, policemen, media representatives, and a lawyer or two, all come together in a gritty, breathtaking, nail-chewing wild ride in and about Pittsburgh.

Paramedic Trey Garrison comes to Lydia’s defense early on. Mark Cohen, an attending physician, recommends his sister, lawyer Michelle Cohen, and her assistant, Danny, to Lydia. They take up ‘lost’ causes and cases that others won’t touch. Nora Halloran is a charge nurse, and she sees things as they truly are. Gina Freeman, a third-year resident, likes Lydia and has a good friend, policeman Jerry Boyle. Amanda Mason is a fourth year med student. Jim Lazarov is an intern, the one who made the wrong call about the baby. Medical Examiner Dr Isaiah Steward and his assistant, Jan Dombroski, cannot find the cause of Jonah’s death on their first try, and even though forbidden to practice until the legalities are settled, Lydia is determined to find out why Jonah died. Little does she know just how much trouble awaits her...

I found it difficult to put this book down. It is better than any medical story I have ever read and rivals the best in the movies and television. At the climax, readers will be hanging on by their fingertips. Emotions run high, and debut author C. J. Lyons blends everything and everyone seamlessly in this riveting drama. I award this must-read novel a Perfect 10.

Ask Five with....PATRICE WILTON!!!

1. Tell us about your latest release.

DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSIE was written as a chick-lit
with a paranormal twist. Susie is whacky, adorable,
and slightly desperate. She's also a huge
disappointment to her plastic surgeon father. Her life
is a series of calamities until the special gift of
magic, and a firefighter named Brett, enter the
picture. Armed and ready to live life on her own
terms, once again she is defeated. A fire nearly
claims the life of the man she loves. Can she save
him? Will Susie ever find the happiness she
desperately seeks?

2.How long had you been writing before you sold your first story?

I'm embarrassed to say that I've been writing for
nearly 18 years! I wrote my first romance in
long-hand, before I even knew how to use a computer. I
never took any writing courses, but thought how hard
can it be? Well, I learned exactly how hard, but every
rejection only got me closer to my dream.

3. So far, what has been the biggest thrill for you as an author?

I think getting an agent was probably the first big
thrill, and then having The Wild Rose Press accept my
story for publication was a close second.

4. Which friends or authors have influenced you over the years, whether for their writing or for their friendship?

I studied many of the great Women Fiction authors, and
enjoy a huge variety in genres, but a few of my
favorites are Mary Higgins Clark, Joy Fielding,
Barbara Taylor Bradford, Nora Roberts, and who could
ever forget Sydney Sheldon's The Other Side of
Midnight?

5. Finally, what is coming up next for you?

I have had a request for a book that I wrote a few
years back, entitled The Mars Club (Men Are Rotten
Scoundrels) It's a First Wives Club meets Reality TV.
I also have another book, Cater To Your Heart, that my
agent is representing. It is now making the NY rounds.

Erotic Anthology

Three hot stories that will have you running out and buying some thigh highs of your own to surprise the man in your life… ;-)

Thigh High
Anywhere

Kat Hardee has been harboring a secret crush on her next door neighbor Taye Connors for months. When her friend and neighbor, Celia, challenges Kat to go after Taye, Kat has to shake off her initial shyness and figure out the best way to attract him. Then a mix up has Taye literally showing up on her doorstep.

Taye receives a delivery that he mistakes for his and opens it. To his surprise there is an assortment of sexual toys and garments (including thigh highs) that send his libido skyrocketing when he discovers the package is really for Kat, who he learns is a party products demonstrator. After delivering the errant box to its rightful owner, Taye and Kat get to know each other and are soon embarking on an affair where the sex is great but both wonder if there’s a future together for them.

Oozing with sensuality that scorches the pages, Thigh High is a great way to open. Kat has insecurities about attracting Taye, while he feels the same about her! Once they get over their initial threshold of “is this the right thing for them” then Thigh High evolves into a wonderfully satisfying romance. If you’re like me, you’ll be rooting for Taye and Kat to have their happily ever after.

Parlor Games
Seattle, Washington area

Matt Crewe and Carrie MacLean are attending a charity auction at Perdition House that is unlike any other auction: men are sold to women for a weekend of sex. Unbeknownst to each other, both are there investigating Perdition House to expose it for being no more than like a whore house. But neither expects the effect staying there has on them. Immediately attracted to each other in a lustful, primal way, it ends up with Carrie buying Matt for a weekend neither may soon forget.

However, what Matt and Carrie don’t realize is the powerful magic of some very convincing ghosts. Is the attraction between Matt and Carrie real, or just the result of ghostly shenanigans?

Bonnie Edwards gives readers a treat with another story set at the ghostly mansion of Perdition House. We also revisit Faye Grantham and Liam Watson from the Midnight Confessions books.

The sensual illusion that engulfs Matt and Carrie in Parlor Games is intriguing, but even without it, the attraction between them is genuine. But with each having their own agenda, and with ghosts who apparently are aware of this fact, it will only be a matter of time before their mission will come out in the open. The sex is hot, the story is good enough that I wished for a longer version. Ah, well, maybe there will be more tales from Perdition House. We can only hope!

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Thong
Victoria, British Columbia

Francesca “Frankie” Volpe is a woman with a secret and has a very big problem at the moment. While on a yacht trying to retrieve a diamond encrusted thong (yes, diamonds as in gems you normally wear as jewelry, not as underwear) for her sister when a scruffy dog that’s hanging around grabs the thong and takes off. Frankie’s chase of the mutt ends up at the float home of disc jockey Daniel Martin.

Daniel likes his vagabond lifestyle and his job working nights at the radio station. When one very attractive Frankie lands on his dock, he’s instantly attracted. He’s aware she’s not completely truthful with him, but he slides past that. He’ll do anything for her, even though she might be on the run from the law, if it means Frankie’s in his bed.

Totally fun and even more so sizzling hot, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Thong is full of surprises and a bit of humor. I mean, who would wear a diamond thong? Wouldn’t it be painful to sit down? While Frankie and Daniel worked on getting back the entertaining bit of glittery underwear, Ms. Edwards had me a little fooled as to what Frankie’s secret was, which made the whole story highly entertaining. As for Daniel, he’s totally smitten with Frankie, but when a career bump has him trying to decide which way to go, even that kept me guessing.

After reading all three stories in THIGH HIGH, I found it hard to decide which was the best. I finally came to the conclusion that all were unique and equally enjoyable. I suspect you’ll feel the same. Grab your copy of THIGH HIGH and be prepared for some non stop reading.

Spotlight Review: THIGH HIGH by Christina Dodd

THIGH HIGH - Christina Dodd
Signet
ISBN: 978-0-451-22337-1
March 2008
Contemporary Romance
New Orleans, Louisiana, during the current Mardi Gras

High on the seventy-sixth floor of the Premier Central Bank Building in Philadelphia, PCB's reclusive CEO Jeremiah "Mac" MacNaught stares raptly at the security tapes of the bank's New Orleans branch. He freezes the frame on the face he can't get out of his mind. He doesn't want to be attracted by her: she's his number one suspect as mastermind of the annual Mardi Gras bank robberies. Every year for four years, two cross-dressers enter one of his banks -- nothing unusual during Mardi Gras week -- and hand the teller an amusing note demanding a ridiculously small amount of cash. They've never hurt anyone and so have entered the folklore of the Big Easy as the Beaded Bandits. Mac's investigator has returned from New Orleans with nothing to work with and half in love with Mac's prime suspect himself: the branch's assistant manager, Ionessa Dahl.

Nessa's brains and charm are the ones behind the smooth and profitable running of the Chartres Street branch of Premier Central in the French Quarter, but credit and bonuses are unfairly stolen by the nominal manager, Stephanie Decker, known among the employees as Stephabeast. Still, Nessa has hopes that the office being readied means a promotion at last. Alas, it's for an insurance investigator, a Mr. Mac, being sent to solve the Beaded Bandit case before they strike again this year. And she has been appointed his assistant.

The tall, ruggedly handsome stranger entering the bank setting all female hearts aflutter, and garnering cautious respect from the males present, introduces himself as the investigator, Jeremiah Mac. Nessa is not immune to Mr. Mac's appeal, but as they work together going over old case files and interviewing witnesses, she wonders what made him so cold.

There couldn't be more contrast than that between Nessa and Mac. Nessa is the essence of New Orleans. The Dahls are a prominent old family now reduced to three women who live in the old run-down Dahl House in the Garden District owned by Nessa's two great-aunts, Miss Hestia, eighty, and Miss Calista, eighty-two. It seems all New Orleans is eagerly anticipating the traditional Mardi Gras open house at Dahl House. The whole town loves the Dahls. Mac, on the other hand, is not universally loved -- desired maybe, but not loved. (Someone actually hates him.) Except for his build, his undeniable sex appeal and lack of a mustachio to twirl, Mac could have played the villainous banker who throws widows and orphans out of their homes in the old melodramas. An upright, uptight Yankee in the Big Easy.

Nessa and Mac are wonderful characters who epitomize the theory that opposites attract, and it's much against their will...and that's especially true of Mac. He's torn between the physical attraction, his craving for the warmth radiated by Nessa, and his belief that she's the mastermind behind the thefts from his bank. What fun! These two aren't the only engaging and/or quirky people around, though. You'll love the aunts and Maddy, who is nearing one-hundred, but runs the kitchen like a little general. Other cases in point are the Dahl House boarders. There are the mysterious Pootie DiStephano, who lives in the attic; the cross-dressing entertainer Daniel (Dana) Friendly, who gives Nessa fashion tips; Ryan Wright a street musician who keeps hitting on Nessa and his friend Skeeter, who doesn't live there but mooches meals; and Debbie Voytilla, who wants Ryan. Nessa wants that promotion badly so she can rid the house of boarders to take the burden off her aunts, but Stephabeast's sly reports to the main office -- they mustn't be bad enough to get Nessa fired or she might have to actually do her job herself -- put paid to that.

Whether writing historicals, paranormals, or contemporaries such as THIGH HIGH, Christina Dodd is a master. She can quickly sketch a minor character to make him or her unforgettable or take her time while fully developing her protagonists. She's equally able to set a dark scene or one that delights as with the post-Katrina New Orleans of THIGH HIGH, where the city itself is a main character. She pours both humor and passion into the relationship between Nessa and Mac. And don't forget the Beaded Bandits.

THIGH HIGH is a winner I highly recommend.

A Perfect Ten: VAMPIRE INTERRUPTED by Lynsay Sands

VAMPIRE, INTERRUPTED - Lynsay Sands
A Perfect 10
An Argeneau Novel, Book 9
Avon
ISBN: 978-0-06-122977-0
March 2008
Paranormal Romance
Europe – Present Day

After hundreds of years of existence, and with all her children happily settled, Marguerite Argeneau decides it’s time for something new. Her choice of new is to become a private detective, and her first case is to locate Christian Notte’s mother. It seems like a simple job; however, Christian is a vampire and so is his mother, and he has never seen her nor does he know her name. You’d think he could just ask his father Julius, but Julius isn’t talking.

With little information, Marguerite, along with Tiny, her mortal partner, sets off for Europe in search of Christian’s unknown mother. However, it quickly becomes apparent that someone doesn’t want Marguerite to find the mysterious woman, and when her life is in danger, Julius insists on helping to protect her, though he still refuses to reveal who Christian’s mother is.

Marguerite suffered through one horrible marriage and has no intention of succumbing again; however, there is something about Julius… As the two are forced into close contact, the attraction between them becomes undeniable. Will Marguerite allow herself to trust another immortal with her heart? Will they find Christian’s mother? And who is out to stop Marguerite, who is powerful enough to use mind control on a seven hundred year old vampire? Is it possible that Jean-Claude Argeneau, her supposedly deceased husband, is really still alive and has come after Marguerite?

I have to start off by saying that I have loved every single book in Ms. Sands’s Argeneau vampire series. Seriously, there isn’t a single title I would hesitate to go back and re-read (and trust me, I have). Each novel is filled with delightful characters, fabulous romance, and a plethora of laugh aloud moments. VAMPIRE, INTERRUPTED is no exception. The characters are outstanding, and many are familiar from previous novels. The dialogue is spot on, and the humor is a delight. However, beyond everything that makes these novels so wonderful, there is Marguerite, the mother of the Argeneau clan and a woman I’ve delighted in through the course of the series. And, truthfully, it’s Marguerite who makes VAMPIRE, INTERRUPTED an outstanding novel, and one of the very best I’ve ever read. Beyond the humor, beyond the passion, Marguerite’s story is heartbreaking, and I dare anyone to read it and not weep for her. Betrayal of the cruelest kind is part of her story as well as a loss that can never be regained. And that’s all I’m going to say about that. Even with the heartache of the tale, there are still moments of joy and humor, and lest you think this is a tragedy rather than a romance, let me be clear, this is a romance to rival any romance and a story that will entertain and make you laugh and cry.

If you’re looking for something truly outstanding and you’ve enjoyed the previous books in the series, run, don’t walk to grab a copy of VAMPIRE, INTERRUPTED. For a superior novel, and an RRT Perfect 10, don’t miss this book.

Thin Ice giveaway!!

What perfect timing! We just had Liana Laverentz as the RRT Blog guest and she just tied for an EPPIE award for THIN ICE at the awards announced over the weekend (EPPIES are for electronic published authors).

Find all the EPPIE winners by clicking here.

I thought a way to help Liana celebrate would be to give away a copy of her award winning book THIN ICE. So today I went to Amazon and purchased a copy for a giveaway! It is a print book and I will give it away to one lucky winner. All you need to do is post away and on Wednesday night I will draw a winner from the posts.

Ask Five with Liana Laverentz!!!!

1. Tell us about your latest release.

Thin Ice isn’t my latest release, but it is my biggest, and is still doing well on the bestseller lists at The Wild Rose Press. It’s a 2007 New Jersey Romance Writers Golden Leaf Award winner, a 2008 EPPIE finalist, and was a nominee for Best Romance of 2007 at Long and Short Reviews. Jake’s Return is my latest release, and special to me for a very different reason. One involves a couple that have never met before, and the other a couple that were childhood friends. I found them equally challenging to write, because the dynamics of the relationships were so different. But both deal with the issues of love, trust and forgiveness.

2. How long had you been writing before you sold your first story?

I started writing with the intent of getting published in 1988. My first book was published in 1993.

3. So far, what has been the biggest thrill for you as an author?

The comments I get from readers. I’ve had people tell me they couldn’t put the book down, they didn’t get anything done all weekend, they laughed and they cried, and “That’s the way it should be,” when speaking of the relationship between the hero and heroine. I’ve also had people say, “I want my own Eric.” (The hero in Thin Ice.) Next best would be reviewers that “get” what you were trying to convey with the story. My stories always have a message in them, and there’s nothing better in this world than to feel understood. When you write a book, you’re putting yourself out there, and to be able to touch people’s emotions, to have them relate to your characters as if they were real, to have them tell you they forgot about everything else while they were reading your book…that makes it all worth it.

4. Which friends or authors have influenced you over the years, whether for their writing or for their friendship?

My best friend, Louis, to whom both Thin Ice and Jake’s Return are dedicated, has influenced me the most in the past several years, simply by being in my corner and gently encouraging me to go out and do what I always said I wanted to do—write books. For years I let just about anything else that came along get in the way of my writing. I put my writing last on the list, and so it never got done. Hence the 15 year gap between my first and second book. Finally, he said, “You keep talking about how you want to be a writer—I don’t see that happening.” And it was like a wake up call, and I said, “Okay, I’ll show you…”

So I submitted Thin Ice to Rhonda Penders at the Wild Rose Press and she bought it, and I was on my way. But before that, I had to get the manuscript ready to submit, and he would call me every week and ask, “What did you get done this week?” And if I hadn’t worked on it, he wouldn’t say a word about it, but I knew he would call and ask the same question the next week, and the thought of having to say “nothing” and hear my lame excuses spoken out loud to another person kept me working on it until it was done.

5. Finally, what is coming up next for you?

I am currently revising my first novel, a murder-mystery romance titled Ashton’s Secret, for re-release with The Wild Rose Press in late 2008. I also have a romantic suspense title I am working on, Justice is a Lady, about Samantha Dallas, an assistant DA who goes on the run with Alexander Caldwell, an undercover FBI agent, when Samantha is framed for murder. Part of the suspense is Samantha doesn’t know Alex is one of the good guys. The people who framed her are the same people he is investigating.

I also host a monthly chat on the Long and Short Reviews Yahoo Group the first Thursday of each month, where we discuss ways to find our balance between writing and Life, which tends to get in the way of our writing more often than not. You can read my articles on Finding Your Balance at http://longandshortarchives.blogspot.com/2008/01/article-finding-your-balance-pt-1.html then mark your calendar to join us at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LongAndShortRomanceReviews/?yguid=306787988
